The frustrating part was that no one took the time to really teach us how to do it.  No one would point us in the right direction.  We WISHED we would have come across someone that would actually share valuable information that could be used to generate an income from Instagram.

So what did we  all do?  We decided to BECOME those people for others.

Free Lesson #1: A simple method we all use to make money on Instagram.

Before we share this we have just a few quick questions for you…

1. What if we told you that you could make $1,000’s of dollars a week on Instagram?

3. What if you were able to replace your entire income right now by simply sharing your life with others on Instagram?

Well, all of those things are true, ya know… and it’s not as hard as you may think!

One way that we all make money on Instagram is simple… we earn commissions for sharing about other products in our posts and in our stories.  In other words, we are all affiliated with big brands that pay us to share about their products. 

This makes us “affiliates.”

Did you know that companies like Target, Walmart, Anthropolgie and more all have affiliate programs?  The way it works is pretty straight forward...

  ...First, you find a company you like that has products you either purchase or have products you believe in. 
• 
  ...Then, you apply to their affiliate program. 
• 
  ...Once you’re accepted you are assigned a personal and unique tracking link for their products. 
• 
  …You share your link with as many people as you can and for every purchase made through that link you get paid a commission!

Simple, right? 

Yeah, we thought so and since it’s simple let’s take it one step further, shall we?!

Did you know there are companies out there that play the role of a “middleman” between you and these big brands?  They have created platforms that allow you to sign up for DOZENS of these companies all at once. 

Instead of having to sign up for 10 individual affiliate programs these “middle men” give you the opportunity to sign up for just one account which makes the tracking of your commissions so much easier!  Not only that, but you can choose from 1,000’s of products on one platform to recommend on your feed!!!

Now… we know that some of you may already be familiar with affiliate commissions and how they work so we thought we’d surprise you and throw in a secret most of you will not be familiar with… AND IT’S A BIG ONE!!

BONUS SECRET: You can be an affiliate for some of these companies and earn commissions…

WITHOUT EVER MAKING A SALE!

Just in case you didn’t fully get that statement we’re going to say it again, “You can earn commissions without ever making a sale.” 

There are a few platforms out there that are interested in one thing: Clicks. 

They are interested in getting people to click a link and if you provide those clicks, they’ll pay you for it.  This is also known as a “pay-per-click” campaing. 

Official definition of a pay-per-click campaign: An internet advertising model used to drive traffic to websites, in which an advertiser pays a publisher when the ad is clicked.

How much do they pay, exactly?  We thought you’d never ask!!!

Usually these types of campaigns pay between 9 cents and 25 cents per click.  It may not sound like a lot but think about it… what if you were to get 1,000 clicks on one link that paid you 10 cents?  You’d make $100 a day! 

Imagine getting 3,000, 5,000 or even 10,000 clicks in ONE DAY! 

That would mean you’d make anywhere from $300 - $1,000 PER DAY!

We know this may seem too far fetched for some of you but we can honestly say… this is very doable!  How do we know?! 

BECAUSE WE ARE ALL DOING IT!!!

Have you ever posted on Instagram or worked up the courage to finally do a selfie video and share it in stories only to be met with... crickets?!

You are not alone! 

We cannot begin to tell you how many times we've worked on a picture, written killer content and spent hours creating the perfect post only to be met with crazy discouragement when the post is only shown to a fraction of the people that follow us.

Ahhhhh!!!!  It can be so frustrating!!!

Even worse, you see others getting 100, 500 or even 1,000 likes on their post but for some reason you just can’t figure out how to get the same results! It’s as if likes and views are being thrown around like confetti but you’re all by yourself just watching the party happen!

Today’s lesson is all about increasing the level of engagement your followers have with you.  The goal is to get your followers to engage with you MORE by beating the algorithm!!!

For some of you, the “Algorithm” is a mystery so let’s start there and take a small dive into what the algorithm does. 

In January 2019, Instagram acknowledged the growing public concern over their algorithm and broke their silence in a series of tweets. Specifically, Instagram stated that what shows up first in your feed is primarily based on...”your own activity.”

Did you catch that?!  The accounts that are showing up on your feed first are based on who you are interacting with the most while you’re on the app. 

Have you ever wondered why you always see the same accounts over and over again when you visit the app?  It’s because you’re always interacting with them by liking their posts, watching their stories or sending them a DM with a question about their newest DIY project!! 

So, how does this little sliver of information help us beat the algorithm?  That’s what today’s lesson is all about!

Free Lesson #2: How To Beat The Algorithm Every Time.

Think about this… if we can get other people to interact with our feed then we increase the chances of our account being shown to them when they login to the app. 

In other words, if we can get people to interact with us then “their activity” of engaging with us causes our account to show up in their feed when they login to the app! 

Here’s what “activity” looks like:

• Liking a post
• Responding to a comment
• Watching a story
• Commenting on a post
• Sending a DM
• Voting on a poll in a story

(... and the list goes on and on)

Are you ready for the mic drop? 

Here’s one way we beat the algorithm every single time:  We interact with the people that are following us…

NOT JUST WITH THE PEOPLE WE ARE FOLLOWING!

Hahahahah! 

You may need to read that again:

"We interact with the people that are following us... not JUST with the people we are following!"

The truth is that we all have the habit of only looking at what we're shown when we login to Instagram.  Admittedly we all allow Instagram to dictate what we see each day!

It’s true!!!!

We have a habit of scrolling through our feeds and interacting with the accounts we follow but we’ve never thought about interacting with the accounts that follow us... 

EVEN THOUGH WE MAY NOT FOLLOW THEM BACK!

By interacting with accounts that follow us it causes our accounts to show up in their “Activity” which then increases the chances of them popping over to our feed or even better, responding to a comment we left on their most recent post!

Here is what that process looks like:

1. Visit your profile and click on “followers.”
2. Visit accounts on that list.
3. Throw likes and comments around like confetti to your followers.
4. You show up in their activity!!! 
5. They see you liked and commented and can’t help themselves but to engage with you.
6. Since they interacted with you then their feed is now going to have your account show up on it.

Awe, yeah!!!!!!!!

So, when you open up the app it’s not just about what Instagram is showing you on your feed.  Don’t get stuck only interacting with what they show you!  Disrupt that habit by visiting accounts you’ve never seen or visited before and the best accounts to go and visit are your followers accounts!!! 

… NOT THE EXPLORE PAGE! 

The reason why this is so important is because your followers are already following you. To increase your engagement you need to interact more with those that are already wanting to engage with you!

We absolutely love visiting our followers accounts, watching their stories, liking their posts and leaving an encouraging comment.  We believe it brightens their day and in the end, it brightens ours as well!

Believe it or not, right now you have followers that don’t ever see your account.  So instead of waiting for them to come to you… you need to go to them! Interact with them, show them some love and by doing this, they’ll return the favor. 

It’s like that old saying, “what goes around comes around!”

That is one of the many secrets we use to beat the algorithm… WE GO TO THEM!

So, today let’s all try it, shall we?! 

Go ahead and take just 3 mins of your time by visiting some of your followers, liking their most recent post, leave a comment and if they have some new stories… watch them!  And then, shoot them an encouraging DM! 

By doing this, you’ll get their attention by showing up in their activity feed and then just you watch… they’ll return the favor!
